1. Apple ID
To create an Apple Developer Account, you first need an Apple ID. It is important that the ID is created for the owner of the company or institution or for an authorized person who must be employed by the company or institution.
To do this, open the Apple ID registration page and fill out the form.
2. Creation of the Developer Account
Register for the Developer Program by opening the Apple Developer Program page. Click Join Apple Developer Program, Enroll and Start Your Enrollment.
3. Contact Information
Fill out the form to confirm your personal information.
4. Account Type
In the next step, you need to select the type of your account. It depends on the company or the type of institution you need the Developer Account for. You can use the following table to get an overview and select the account type that best suits your business:
I need the Developer Account for… | required account type |
...me as a private person, I do not run a company | Individual / Sole Proprietor |
...my sole proprietorship | Individual / Sole Proprietor |
...my company | Company / Organization |
...my association | Company / Organization |
...an educational institution | Educational Institution |
...a public institution | Government Organization |
For all account types, except for the Individual / Sole Proprietor, Apple requires a unique identification of your company by means of the D-U-N-S Number. Your company probably already has this. You can look it up at D&B UPIK or Apple DUNS-Lookup.
If your company does not have a D-U-N-S number, you can apply for one from D&B.
5. Permissions
Depending on the type of account you have chosen, you may need to go through one more step on the subject of authorizations. Fill out the form and select whether you are the owner/founder of the company, association or institution or whether you have been assigned as an authorized person. For the account type "Individual" this step is not necessary and will not be displayed.
Apple will contact you within 48 hours to confirm the submitted data.
6. Payment
Lastly, there is an annual fee of €99. Only non-profit organizations, educational institutions and public institutions that offer free apps and are active in selected countries are allowed to create a free Developer Account with Apple. Read more about this below.
Currently, only credit card payment is supported. Enter your credit card details and proceed with the payment.
When entering the credit card data, make sure that you enter exactly the same details as on your application. Apple checks if the data are identical with the entries from before.
If you use someone else's credit card, the credit card holder will need to verify the payment with Apple. Apple will contact you within two business days.

In case your educational institution is not included in the list of countries mentioned above, the annual fee of 99,00€ will apply. Simply proceed as described above.
